Cardiff Metropolitan University has acquired Alexander House in Llandaff, formerly occupied by Bellway Homes for £1.55m. The 15,000 sq ft building is close to its Llandaff campus and will house the commercial subsidiary in its International Centre for Design and Research (PDR).

Cooke & Arkwright’s Business Space team acted on behalf of Cardiff Metropolitan University to purchase Alexander House. Director Ben Bolton said, “We are very pleased to have acted for the University on this acquisition for its estates portfolio.

“We understand that the relocation of some services to Alexander House will free up space for ongoing expansion at its Llandaff campus.”

A spokesperson for the university said that the acquisition was part of the second phase of its wider estates strategy, which is designed to support the effective restructure of professional services.

Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Technologies will move into the space vacated at the Llandaff Campus after the PDR relocates. The university is also investing in a new dedicated campus with student accommodation at the Central Quay development at the former Brains Brewery site in the centre of Cardiff.

JLL and Jenkins Best acted on behalf of the vendor.
