Cooke & Arkwright, Wales’ leading independent commercial property consultancy, continues to play a pivotal role in Greggs’ strategic expansion across north Wales, with the latest store now open at Herron Services, Llangefni.

Since being appointed in 2023 to lead on acquisitions in north Wales, as well as across south Wales, Cooke & Arkwright has helped Greggs secure a series of new locations. These include at Caernarfon, Prestatyn Retail Park, Queensferry, Ruthin and Caernarfon Road in Bangor, as well relocating existing stores to more prominent locations in Bangor city centre and Wrexham town centre.

The Llangefni store marks another milestone in Greggs’ commitment to serving communities across Wales. Located within a busy roadside service area, the new 1,250 sq ft unit is expected to attract strong footfall and provide a convenient stop for locals and tourists alike. The new store employs 8 people, contributing to local job creation and economic growth.

Anna Douglas, Greggs Regional Property Manager covering north Wales for Greggs said, “Cooke & Arkwright’s expertise has been invaluable in helping us grow our stores numbers across north Wales, and our search for new opportunities continues. The new Llangefni store is a key part of our expansion, and we’re excited to continue investing in communities across the region. As part of that investment, we’re proud to recognise and respect the culture and heritage of Wales. All our new stores now operate under a bilingual policy, with signage and communications available in both Welsh and English. We actively recruit Welsh-speaking staff, and team members wear badges with symbols to help customers identify who speaks Welsh, ensuring our shops are welcoming and inclusive for everyone.”

Jill Lewis, Company Secretary at Lewis Forecourts Ltd, who own Herron Services, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Greggs to both our sites at Herron Services and Caernarfon Road, Bangor. The brand is a great addition to our portfolio and complements the existing retail and food offering perfectly - something we’ve already seen reflected in the exceptional levels of activity at Herron. It has been a pleasure working with the teams at Greggs and Cooke & Arkwright to bring these projects to fruition, and it’s fantastic to see new jobs being created in both Llangefni and Bangor as part of the continued investment across north Wales.”

Huw Thomas, Director of Retail & Leisure at Cooke & Arkwright, said, “Our partnership with Greggs has gone from strength to strength across north Wales. The opening of the Llangefni store is a great example of how we’re helping Greggs to secure strategic locations that support long-term growth. We’re proud to be delivering comprehensive property solutions for Greggs throughout Wales which spans acquisitions, lease advisory, commercial business rates and building surveying services.”

With additional sites in the pipeline, Greggs’ presence in north Wales is set to grow even further, supported by Cooke & Arkwright’s dedicated team.

Blake Morgan committed to 29,000 sq ft office in the exciting Central Square development. We retained Ben Bolton and his team some time ago to advise and appraise options in the lead up to this significant move of our Cardiff Office. The business is extremely pleased with the outcome and Ben's negotiations and attention to detail was a major part to this.
