Twenty20 Homes has won the Cardiff Building Excellence Award 2008 in the New Single Dwelling category for its development of a five-bedroom, three-storey detached family home at 8 Cefn Coed Crescent in Cyncoed.
The Cardiff Council Building Awards recognise developments in ten different categories for ‘compliance with the building regulations, with high standards of building work, excellent construction techniques and the creation of high performance buildings’.
Llantwit Major Building Contractors Ltd (LMBC) undertook the contract and completed construction in a period of ten months, incorporating hardwood double glazed windows and French doors, a feature fireplace with ‘Stuv’ wood burner, an oak staircase, underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom areas, solid wood internal doors, and a kitchen with integrated appliances, granite worktop and ‘Smeg’ range cooker. Outside are landscaped gardens with electric gates. The property is currently on the market with Cooke & Arkwright at a guide price of £975,000.
Paul Markey of Twenty20 Homes said, “We are naturally delighted with the award, which we understand was drawn out of a shortlist of six from 40 nominations in our category. We worked closely with LMBC, the excellent contractors who share this award with us, to ensure that we produced a home of outstanding design, quality and construction, and the award demonstrates that we achieved that goal.”
Nominations for the categories are put forward by the Council’s building surveyors, who check that construction work complies with Building Regulations. Steve Baggott, Group Leader of Building Control said, “On behalf of Cardiff Building Control I would like to offer our warmest congratulations to you and your Development Team for winning the Award category in the Cardiff Building Excellence Awards 2008. The aim of the awards is to raise standards in the construction industry and highlight and congratulate quality workmanship and professionalism. They also serve to underline what a dynamic and forward thinking industry we have in South Wales. These awards have set the standards that other developers throughout the city must aspire to.”
Francesca Tanguy of Cooke & Arkwright said that the property would be open for public viewing on Saturday 21st February between 11 am and 2 pm when people can see for themselves what makes it an award winning property. “This is a luxury family home with excellent proportions and lots of natural light, which makes it very warm and welcoming,” she said. “We have had a great deal of positive feedback by a number of interested parties who have already been to view it.”
Another development recently completed by Twenty20 Homes is Locks Court in Porthcawl, overlooking the seafront at Locks Common close to the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club. The gated development of three apartment blocks consists of 12 two-bed apartments and 3 four-bed penthouses. Ms Tanguy said that four apartments had been sold. “Two of the penthouses have been sold and two apartments, one in the first floor turret and one on the ground floor,” she said.
The show apartment at Locks Court is open for viewing seven days a week from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm. Cooke & Arkwright and T Elwood Deere & Son are joint agents and prices start from £315,000.
