16/07/03

Cosmetic giant, Revlon has taken 7,500 square feet at Brackla House, Bridgend, joining occupiers who include Berry Smith Solicitors and Bridgend County Borough Council in the remaining 12,000 square feet. This office will house the Revlon Technical Services, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS), Customer Services and Supply Chain teams. Revlon’s head office is based in Highgate, London.

Clarnor Estates originally bought the 1980’s building in 2002 for £1.4 million. Brackla House Limited was subsequently set up to manage the property, which is located in the heart of the town close to the railway station and within easy access of the M4 motorway.

Around £200,000 is being spent on updating the interior to reflect the high demand for contemporary office accommodation in the Bridgend area. Landlord Richard Norgate said that they were investing heavily in refurbishment to ensure that the building presents the type of quality interior that occupiers have now come to expect.

Cooke & Arkwright, which manages the building on a day-to-day basis on behalf of Brackla House Limited, has also been overseeing the programme of refurbishment. Project Manager, John Day said, “We have completely stripped out, rewired and redecorated the Revlon suites and are in the process of doing the same in other parts of the building.”

“The landlord has also been very proactive in updating the facilities to comply with The Disability Discrimination Act 1995,” he added.

Revlon’s European MIS Director, Paul Holloway said, “Revlon has a long history in South Wales. We chose to move to Bridgend because of its central location and easy road and rail links.”

Ben Bolton of Cooke & Arkwright, who advised the landlord on the deal, said that Bridgend was now in the rather unusual position of having all available premises either let or under offer. “This bodes well for current projects which are due for completion in the town centre in the very near future,” he said.
