Hays Construction & Property, one of the UK’s leading construction recruitment companies, has taken part of the second floor at Southgate House in Cardiff city centre in an expansion move from its previous accommodation of ten years on Newport Road.
Acting on behalf of landlord Euranglo, Cooke & Arkwright has leased a 2nd floor suite of 2,000 sq ft to the organisation, which has doubled the size of its South Wales team and is planning to take on more staff in the coming months.
Hays Construction is a division of Hays, a global leader in specialist recruitment consultancy and HR services with over 220 offices in the UK and Ireland and more than 3,000 consultants across the world. It is currently involved in the recruitment of professionals such as surveyors, architects, project managers and skilled trade labour for several major development projects in the Cardiff area.
These include the new Sports Village in Cardiff Bay for client Taylor Woodrow, the St David’s 2 development for St David’s Partnership, and the redevelopment of David Morgan’s in the Hayes for Interserve. Rhys Harris, office manager at Hays Construction and Property in Cardiff, said, “Our move to Southgate House comes at a very busy time for our team and we will be spearheading a strong recruitment drive on behalf of major South Wales project developers over the next 12 months. We are also recruiting workforces for the SAI waterfront development at Swansea, the redevelopment of Newport Docks and the construction of the new Heads of the Valleys road.”
Mr Harris added that most of the recruitment is from local sources “There is a first class pool of professional and construction personnel in South Wales,” he said.
Roger Thomas of Cooke & Arkwright, letting agent for Southgate House, said the property was a popular choice for both public and private sector clients due to its central location, local amenities and access to road and rail links. “It enjoys a prominent position next to the Millennium Stadium, the Millennium Plaza and two large multi storey car parks,” he said. “Currently, a total of around 8,000 sq ft is available on the third and ninth floors, in which we have active interest.”
Hays Construction joins a mix of private and public sector tenants at Southgate House including KMC International and Levenes Solicitors; the Cardiff Met Office, Food Standards Agency, General Teaching Council for Wales, Care Council for Wales and the Department of Wages and Pensions.
