Principality Building Society, Wales’ largest provider of financial advice, mortgages and savings, will open its 51st branch this November, positioned at the heart of Cardiff’s new St David’s development.
The news is a further signal of the building society’s future confidence, following a solid set of half year figures that underpin the society’s financial strength and continued profitability.
St David’s is set to establish Cardiff as one of Europe’s premier shopping destinations.
Graeme Yorston, Chief Operating Officer at Principality Building Society, commented: “As one of the most important city developments in the UK and currently the largest financial investment in Wales, St David’s 2 is a natural fit for Principality. We understand the importance of offering our members face to face advice and a friendly environment to discuss their future financial needs. The new branch is another signal of our commitment to provide a first-class service for our members and customers.”
“Principality has been looking after the financial needs of the people of Wales for 149 years. Today, despite a difficult economic climate, we remain committed to the people of Wales. Since we opened our first branch on Queen Street in 1914 our business has gone from strength to strength. We will open our 51st branch with pride in November, marking another milestone in our history as we approach our 150th year celebrations.”
The Principality branch will be located in premises acquired by Cooke and Arkwright, immediately opposite the entrance to the 240 metre, glass-domed Grand Arcade which runs straight through the centre of St David’s.
Huw Thomas of Cooke & Arkwright, who acted on behalf of Principality, confirmed that the Society would be well-placed within the scheme. “St David’s will be one of the largest shopping destinations in the UK and is expected to attract 11 million extra shoppers,” he said. “This is a timely acquisition for Principality.”
The new Principality branch will house a team of highly experienced staff to offer customers one-to-one advice. It will also be the first Principality branch to display the Society’s subsidiary estate agency, Peter Alan’s touch screen plasma that allows customers to obtain details of any of Peter Alan’s 4,000 houses to buy or rent at a touch of a screen, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This integrated approach provides customers with a one stop shop for both their property and financial needs.
