Gamesa Energy UK Limited (GEUK), a subsidiary of Gamesa Energia, one of the world’s largest wind farm developers, has established new headquarters for its UK operations at Cedar Court, the 22,000 sq ft office village built by Robert Hitchins Limited.
Gamesa Energia is a subsidiary of Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica SA, one of Spain’s largest companies with operations around the world. It is now developing a presence in the UK and especially in Wales, where the wind resource is one of the best in Europe. GEUK has employed seven people at its new headquarters in Newport to manage its growing wind farm portfolio.
Gamesa’s Development Director for the UK, Matt Partridge, said that the company expects operations in this country to be highly successful. “Wind energy is a very important part of Wales’, and the UK’s, plans to reduce the threat of climate change, bringing with it clean, safe energy and the prospect of investment and jobs.” he said.
Roger Thomas, Chairman of Cooke & Arkwright, which acted jointly for Robert Hitchens with Linnells Property Consultants, said that they were delighted to have attracted an international company of the calibre of Gamesa. “We are very pleased that they have decided to establish their UK headquarters at Cedar Court,” he said. “The quality of office accommodation provided was a key factor, as was its close proximity to the M4 and the airports at Cardiff and Bristol, which are used frequently by Gamesa personnel and associates travelling between the UK and Spain.”
Gamesa’s renewable energy business employs 5,000 people worldwide and has an annual turnover of over 1.3 billon Euros.
