Hazell Carr, a major provider of outsourcing services to the Financial Services industry, has taken the entire 22,500 sq ft at Abacus House in St Mellons from landlord Office Visions (Wales) Ltd in a move to accommodate rapid expansion. Cooke & Arkwright acted with joint agents on behalf of the landlord.

Founded in 1997, Hazell Carr has evolved into one of the UK’s leading specialist Financial Services outsourcers. With over 650 staff, 200 associates and an ever expanding contractor base, Hazell Carr harnesses one of the most powerful forces in the industry. The business has expanded significantly after recently winning a number of new contracts and is investing in all its current locations - South Wales, Stirling, Abingdon and Reading.

Hazell Carr is currently actively recruiting for new staff in South Wales. The company has had a very positive response to recruitment in the area and this has contributed to the decision to make a long term commitment to South Wales. “Newport has been a phenomenal location for us over recent years and we look to continue that growth and offer more and more opportunities” says Darryl Boulton, CEO of Hazell Carr. Approximately 300 members of staff, some field based, are being relocated from Newport to Cardiff. Hazell Carr chose Abacus House for its pleasant, light and well-fitted offices with the space and facilities to meet its requirements.

Roger Thomas of Cooke & Arkwright commented, “Office Visions carried out a full refurbishment and installed air conditioning at Abacus House following the departure of the Environment Agency, when its lease recently came to an end. The building provides much needed space and edge of city office accommodation.” Hazell Carr has found Office Visions very helpful in its move to Abacus House. “The landlord has given us some extremely useful contacts for work in the building and the response to our requirements has been excellent.”

Abacus House was built in 1989 for Abacus Office Equipment, the office equipment business first founded in South Wales in 1975 by Roger Gambarini. Following the sale of the Abacus name in 1994, the company was renamed Office Visions Ltd and is one of South Wales’ leading office equipment and interior design specialists which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Roger Gambarini said that they were delighted that Hazell Carr had taken occupation. “We welcome the news of extra employment that this brings,” he said.
