Professional Loss Assessors, Morgan Clark has leased new offices in Brackla House, Bridgend to facilitate current and future expansion.  The company acts exclusively on behalf of domestic and commercial policyholders, providing insurance claim help for many clients throughout the UK who have suffered a fire, flood or some other catastrophe at their home or business premises.

The Bridgend office provides accountancy and financial services to the whole firm as well as being the base for claims in South Wales and the South West. Other Morgan Clark offices are based in London, Manchester and Surrey, with assessment centres in Kent and Reading.

Morgan Clark’s financial director, Alan Wellington said, “We were looking for improved accommodation in the centre of Bridgend with more space and room for us to expand our services in the future.  Despite the recession business has been steady because people still need to make claims as unfortunately, natural disasters can strike at any time.  We have been very busy during the recent cold spell with people seeking help because of burst pipes.”

Cooke & Arkwright is the retained letting and managing agent on behalf of Brackla House Limited.  Associate director Ben Bolton said, “The office suites have recently been refurbished offering a range of different size accommodation. The railway and bus stations, together with all the town centre facilities are within easy walking distance making this one of Bridgend’s best office buildings.”

Morgan Clark was established in 1998 and works independently on a no settlement, no fee basis.  Clients come from a range of businesses including local corner shops, pubs, restaurants and hotels, garages, manufacturing companies and distributors.  For commercial businesses, heads of claim include Buildings, Stock, Contents, Fixtures and Fittings, and most critically, Business Interruption and Increased Costs of Working.

“By being truly independent we are in a position to make things happen more quickly than if the process is left to the insurance company or their appointed Loss Adjusters” said Mr Wellington. 

The company also looks after domestic clients and says that there are signs of a worrying trend in which householders are trying to save money during the recession by not taking out contents insurance.  With natural disasters such as flooding, tens of thousands of pounds worth of belongings could be lost.  “The Association of British Insurers 2008 report showed that 25% of homeowners do not have contents insurance,” said Mr Wellington.  “Even a flood just a couple of feet deep could cause losses of £10- £20,000.  It is not a saving worth making.”
