Cooke & Arkwright expands commercial and residential teams

Cooke & Arkwright has significantly expanded its agency and professional teams during recent months, employing an extra ten people in Cardiff and Bridgend. The chartered surveying firm, first established more than 100 years ago, now employs over 70 people in its south Wales offices.

Mark Coombe and Tania Martin have joined the Property Management department in Cardiff, looking after a portfolio involving a range of industrial estates, offices, residential and retail units. These include Brunel House and Southgate House in Cardiff, SA1 Waterfront in Swansea and two new instructions involving industrial sites in the Midlands. Tania, who previously worked within a resident support service during the construction at Landmark Place, Churchill Way, has responsibilities including the management of Castle Court residential flats in Cardiff. Mark, who previously worked for Neath Port Talbot Council and Caerphilly Council, graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a degree in Property Management & Valuation.

Huw Jones, Ian Hyman and Gareth Tudor have joined the Professional department in Cardiff where they are involved in property valuation and appraisals, and landlord & tenant work. Huw, a keen golfer, gained a degree in Property Management and Valuation at the University of Glamorgan and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Ian studied Business Management at the University of Wales, Swansea and went on to gain a Masters in Real Estate Management from the University of West of England. He is currently training for his Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) to become a member of the RICS. Gareth gained a degree in Archaeology at the University of Exeter and is currently undertaking a post graduate diploma in Surveying at the College of Estate Management.

John Jones joined the Industrial Agency in Cardiff specialising in the disposal and acquisition of industrial property on behalf of retained clients throughout South and West Wales. John who captains Lampeter Town Rugby Club, is a graduate of the University of Glamorgan and previously worked as a Land Acquisition Surveyor and as an Estates Manager in Bristol.

Alexander Kalebic graduated in Law at Cardiff University and is currently undertaking a post-graduate diploma in surveying. He has joined the Retail Agency in Cardiff, dealing with landlord & tenant work as well as agency work for clients including Greggs, Woolworths, Principality and Cardiff City Council. A keen surfer, Alex was a lifeboat crewman with Penarth Lifeboat for six years.

Ryan Pratt has joined Cooke & Arkwright’s Residential Department in Cardiff, which specialises in the sale of country and executive houses and has advised on the sale of many of the great houses of Wales over the last 100 years. Ryan, who has a background in financial services and in particular, residential funding, gained a degree in Sociology at the University of the West of England and is currently undertaking the graduate development programme at the College of Estate Management.

Joanna Kingman and Richard Saunders have joined teams in the Bridgend office. Joanna, who gained a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, is working in the Rural team. A keen horserider, she is principally concerned with the Crown Estate Marine interests, as well as other private clients across south and west Wales. Richard has joined the firm’s Building Consultancy team where his role includes project and professional work including building surveying, audits and analysis, building design, project management, fire insurance valuations and dilapidations surveys. He graduated in Building Surveying from the University of Glamorgan and is a member of the RICS and a Corporate Member of the Association of Building Engineers (ABEng).

Cooke & Arkwright’s Chairman, Roger Thomas said, “Our agency, professional and asset management teams are increasingly busy. The recent recruitment is in response to volume of work and is an indication of our long term commitment to training and developing a new generation of professionals to support and expand Cooke & Arkwright’s broad range of commercial and residential property services.“
