Mike Young Productions, the British BAFTA- and Emmy-award winning animation production company behind TV hits such as Clifford the Big Red Dog, SuperTed and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, has moved its international production and distribution offices to Chapel Barn Business Units.

Tracey Paddison, Production Manager at MYP and responsible for delivering Olly to universal audiences on schedule said, “We were attracted by the beautiful location and excellent facilities here. Initially we are creating about 15 jobs, such as storyboard artists, animators and designers, and this could rise to 25 over the next few years.”

Gary Hurst, Creative Director at MYP confirmed that the location had been a big draw. “The setting is pure inspiration,” he said. “We are also ideally placed for Dragon International Studios, which are being developed nearby and will have cartoon and animation requirements.”

Chapel Barn Business Units have been developed by Merthyr Mawr Estates from a range of ancient Grade II Listed barns near the historic setting of the thatched village of Merthyr Mawr. Rhydian Morgan of Cooke & Arkwright said that they have proved popular with high tech businesses and advanced service providers from the outset. “New tenants to move in recently have been MS4 Limited, which provides IT solutions to the airlines industry worldwide, and The Dot Foundry, which provides up-to-the-minute digital scanning, printing and profiling technologies. They join Speedsafe, Broadcast Traffic and Bran Ddu.”
