Property forum tribute to business development officer

Cooke & Arkwright hosted a retirement buffet at its Cardiff offices for Roy Edwards on Wednesday 12th May, attended by members of Cardiff Commercial Property Forum.  Mr Edwards was a founding member of the Forum along with our Chairman, Roger Thomas, six years ago.  Roy worked for Cardiff County Council for 43 years, during which time he gained a Masters degree in Regional and Local Economic Development.

Sherman raises Portcullis

New headquarters under construction for accountancy firm

Broomfield & Alexander is to have a 10,000 sq ft headquarters purpose built at Lime Tree Court, a new phase of development at Cardiff Gate International Business Park, in a deal brokered by Cooke & Arkwright and joint agents Fletcher Morgan.  The park has agreed a pre-sale to the company, which is one of South Wales’ largest independent accountancy firms.

A highly unusual opportunity has arisen for an enterprising or creative team to set up or relocate their business to a restored church in the ancient parish of Tythegston near Porthcawl.  The church was deconsecrated about 20 years ago and a painstaking and sympathetic restoration project has taken almost four years to complete.

M&A Solicitors have been named as the first tenants for Aviva Investments’ 66,215 sq ft flagship development, 3 Assembly Square in Cardiff Bay.  The firm has taken 8,000 sq ft at the Breeam Excellent, Grade A office building, which has a waterfront location and an on-site multi-storey car park.

New public research centre for Cardiff University

In a property deal brokered by Cooke & Arkwright, Cardiff University has leased 11,200 sq ft at Museum Place, Cardiff, from Norton Evans Ltd.  This follows closely on an earlier deal in which it acquired 14,500 sq ft at Deri House in Park Grove, representing two of the largest office deals in Cardiff this year.

Landmark building for St Andrew’s Place

01/04/09

A landmark speculative office building of a style previously unseen in Cardiff’s prime professional quarter, is about to undergo construction.  The Charnwood Group has started demolition of the existing building at 8 St Andrews Place and expects to complete the 2,800 sq ft office scheme by early 2010.  It will be the first new development in the locality for more than 15 years.  Joint agents Cooke & Arkwright and Savills have been appointed letting agents.
