DX Group (DX), the UK’s leading independent mail and courier company is the latest business to join the growing list of tenants at Robert Hitchins’ Central Park, Bridgend. The company has consolidated two of its sites at Swansea and Penarth and transferred most of the staff to Bridgend, where it has opened a 6,500 sq ft secure Mail Service Centre as part of an expansion of its operations.

Cardiff Bay Office Furniture has completed a total refit and refurbishment of its new premises in Charnwood Park, Cardiff, acquired from private clients of joint agents Cooke & Arkwright. The business has expanded from its previous premises on Curran Road where it has retained 6,000 sq ft of storage space and has opened a 2,000 sq ft office showroom alongside a further 2,000 sq ft of storage facilities at Charnwood.

Allens Office has taken 4,500 sq ft at Cardiff Industrial Park in Llanishen, where it has refurbished the space to provide a working showroom facility for office furniture. Cooke & Arkwright, who acted on behalf of the landlord, ITB Pensions Ltd, said that the deal completed lettings at the 50,000 sq ft industrial park, bringing the client’s ownership to full occupancy.

Leading supplier of plumbing, heating and sanitaryware PTS (Plumbing Trade Supplies), has taken 3,500 sq ft at Central Park in Bridgend, the 85,000 sq ft speculative development by Robert Hitchins Ltd where Phase 1 has now been completed.

Architectural Steel Services Ltd has acquired 15,500 sq ft on a 10 year lease at Blackwood Business Park in Gwent and invested one quarter of a million pounds in new equipment to meet increasing demand from its major clients in the construction and heavy fabrication industry.

Acting on behalf of a private client, Cooke & Arkwright has sold 42,000 sq ft at Rassau Industrial Estate in the Heads of the Valleys to Whittal Williams Ltd. The vehicle repair and hire company has sold its 8,000 sq ft body shop in Abergavenny and invested approximately £2m on the acquisition and refurbishment of its new premises, and in new machinery and equipment. The company is doubling its processing capacity and plans to recruit up to 50 additional operatives during the next couple of months, taking its workforce to around 100.

Daydream Education, an award winning and UK leading producer of educational wall charts and supporting Interactive Whiteboard resources, has relocated from Cardiff to Bridgend as part of an expansion programme that is taking in new markets worldwide. It has recently set up a joint venture with Anatomical Worldwide and is currently targeting the USA education market where it is estimated that only 17% of educational establishments currently employ Whiteboard technology.

A team from Cooke & Arkwright became the first to test the facilities at Boulders indoor climbing centre in St Catherine’s Park, Cardiff, in July. Now in the final stages of construction, the new 1,382 sq m premises opens its doors on the 30th August to provide the largest, combined bouldering and lead wall for rock climbing in the UK.

Cooke & Arkwright has acquired new offices at Robert Hitchins’ speculative development, Central Park on Western Avenue in Bridgend and has sold the first two newly completed units of almost 5,000 sq ft to Daydream Education, which is relocating from Cardiff. Another two units of 5,000 sq ft have just been signed to Ebtek and two further units are under offer.
